Make your way to a departure point in downtown Jasper, where you'll board a bus for the 30-minute trip to Athabasca Falls. Wear a swimsuit under your clothes for a quick change to a wetsuit, then join the athabasca river guide for a briefing on rafting technique and safety. Grab a paddle and climb into a six passenger white water raft, then leave the shore with the thundering sounds of Athabasca Falls behind you. The rafting guide will steer you into the current as you paddle into a channel between the high rock walls of Athabasca Canyon. You’ll take on a series of fun, exciting Class II rapids, then the river will flatten out for the relaxing final stretch. After roughly 1.5 hours on the water, the river raft guide will steer you back to shore for the return trip to Jasper, where this tour concludes. Please note: wetsuits, neoprene booties, and paddle jackets will be provided, as you’re sure to get wet while splashing through the rapids. Wear a swimsuit and bring dry clothes and a towel, as well as wool socks and a warm, post-paddle jacket for cooler days.

Join a guide in an 8-person raft for a multi-rapid run down the Athabasca River Canyon for a trip challenging enough to be counted as an adventure but relaxing enough for you to enjoy the beautiful canyon scenery along the way.

After a 30-minute bus drive from Jasper, you will suit up in your rafting gear. Your safety is always a main concern so prior to departure on the river, your guides will provide a safety talk. All our rafting guides are trained in First Aid, CPR and are federally licensed. After the safety talk there is a 5-minute portage down a road (built for Marilyn Monroe!) to the athabasca river.

The river trip starts with a bang. Starting at the base of spectacular Athabasca Falls, you'll raft 15 kilometers down the majestic Athabasca Valley. Once out in the main current, the first set of rapids is only seconds' way. Once these rapids have soaked everyone in the raft, you'll find yourself in a spectacular canyon only seen from the river.

This 4-hour whitewater rafting trip includes all necessary equipment and instruction, as well as round-trip transport from a central location in Jasper.

Make your way to a central location in Jasper, then travel 45 minutes to a put-in spot by the Sunwapta River in Jasper National Park. Wear a swimsuit under your clothes so you’ll be ready for a quick change into a wetsuit, neoprene booties, and a paddle jacket, and on cooler days, bring a pair of wool socks to wear inside the neoprene booties.

Meet the river guides for a briefing on white water paddling technique and safety, then hit the river in self-bailing rafts that accommodate up to six passengers. The name of the Sunwapta comes from the Stoney Indian term “turbulent river,” and during the highest-water months of mid-June to late July, it lives up to its name with a consistent mix of Class II and Class III rapids.

Watch for wildlife at the edge of the water, as Jasper National Park is habitat for everything from tiny pikas to grizzly bears and moose, and enjoy views of the dramatic Rocky Mountain landscape. After roughly 1.5 hours on the water, steer to shore at a take out point—it’s a great idea to bring a towel and warm clothes to change into when you get off the river.

This 4-hour whitewater trip concludes with return transfer to Jasper.

This guided tour takes you through two exciting sets of rapids (wear your bathing suit!) linked by a serene stretch through the canyon. Take in the Rocky Mountain scenery only paddlers and wildlife get to witness.

Starting at the base of the Athabasca Falls, you'll raft 15 km down the majestic Athabasca Valley. The Falls trip ends with another set of rapids and amazing views of the Athabasca River valley. Once back on the highway, it is about 20 minutes to the townsite.

Paddle a fun, 5-mile (8-km) section of the Athabasca River on a 2-hour whitewater rafting adventure from Jasper that's perfect for first-time rafters. You'll ride frothing Class II rapids through 'The Expressway,' a wide stretch of river that combines rapids with calm, flowing water. This 2-hour Jasper whitewater trip includes all equipment, as well as round-trip transport from downtown Jasper.

Make your way to a centrally-located meeting point in Jasper for 5:30pm departure, then travel 15 minutes to a put-in spot by the Athabasca River. Wear a swimsuit under your clothes so you’ll be ready for a quick change into a wetsuit, neoprene booties, and a paddle jacket, and on cooler days, bring a pair of wool socks to wear inside the neoprene booties.

Join the athabasca river guides for a briefing on rafting technique and safety, then board a whitewater raft that accommodates between six and 10 passengers and a river guide. Put your paddle in the water to help propel the boat through five sets of Class II rapids, so you can practice your rafting skills between laid-back stretches of flat water.

Throughout the trip, watch for wildlife at the edge of the river, as elk, deer, coyotes, osprey, and bears thrive in the surrounding mountains. After roughly one hour on the water, you’ll pull to shore at a take out point (it’s a good idea to bring a change of clothes, towel, and a warm jacket for after the river).
